Laura Hunter
Lead Trainer
Laura is a graduate of the prestigious Academy for Dog Trainers, owned and operated by dog behaviourist and author Jean Donaldson. The Academy is considered one of the most rigorous and advanced programs in science-based dog behavior and training in the world.
Laura is a graduate of the Aggression in Dogs Master Course taught by highly acclaimed trainer Michael Shikashio, CDBC, and is a certified Family Dog Mediator through Kim Brophy's Family Applied Ethology course.
Laura has a particular interest in helping dogs with fear and fear-based reactivity. She has been taking courses in this field continuously for the past eight years, to upgrade her skills and stay current with new science-based research and training approaches.
Laura has worked professionally with horses and dogs for over forty years. As the owner of The Lead Horse and Steps Programs Inc., she has provided animal-assisted life skills and leadership programs to clients of all ages and abilities, from youth with disabilities to corporate executives.
Jesse Seguin
Trainer & Agility Coach
Jesse is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), and has been teaching at Drop the Leash since 2020. Jesse currently teaches agility classes in Stouffville, as well as puppy classes and obedience classes in Markham.
Jesse spent over a decade as a professional educator and sports coach before pivoting to dog training in 2020. He currently competes in Canadian agility leagues with his Border Collie, Hops.
